Microsoft IoT Proof of Concept
(4 months)
Summary
Microsoft partnered with Insight to create a proof-of-concept (PoC) for Microsoft’s Azure Sphere, a key part of any IoT ecosystem. Azure Sphere is a solution for creating highly secure, connected micro-controller (MCU) powered devices. The Insight team delivered a working solution that paired an MCU-enabled coffee maker with a device management portal and consumer mobile app. For this PoC, the team chose to work with a coffee maker, but just about any device could be used (stoves, washing machines, industrial equipment, etc.)
Project Details
The PoC was comprised of 4 pieces, the MCU-enabled device (a coffee maker), a device management portal, a consumer mobile app, and the Azure IoT hub & database.
Coffee Maker (MCU-enabled device)
Device Management Portal
Provides a company with the ability to manage all IoT connected products via both dashboard and map views.
Plus the ability to analyze trends and activate new features on products.
Consumer Mobile App
Provides the customer with a way to remotely manage their IoT connected products.
Allows the company to engage with customers through proactive notifications or offering new features.
Azure IoT Hub & Database
My contributions included:

Distilling technical content into marketing material (website, video, & print).
Supporting the technical team in thinking through device registration and device management scenarios as part of the device management portal.
Wireframes
